For this screening, Lance Bangs will be showing documentary excerpts, short films,  music videos,  concert footage, tour projections and collaborations featuring Archers of Loaf,  Belle & Sebastian, Guided By Voices,  Jay Reatard, LCD Soundsystem,  Menomena,  Neutral Milk Hotel,  Nirvana, No Age/Black Flag,  Pavement,  R.E.M.,  the Shins,  Sleater-Kinney,  Slint,  Elliott Smith,  Sonic Youth,  Syd Tha Kid, the Thermals,  Mike Watt,  the White Stripes, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and others.

1:30pm – 2:10pm  ”Tell Them Anything You Want: A Portrait of Maurice Sendak”

“Tell Them Anything You Want’ A Portrait of Maurice Sendak” is a 40 minute documentary of writer and illustrator Maurice Sendak, directed by Lance Bangs and Spike Jonze.  Sendak is seen at this home and workplace reflecting on his remarkable and tumultuous life, including his books Outside Over There, In The Night Kitchen and Where The Wild things Are.  The film was shortlisted for an Academy Award in 2010 and is in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art.

2:10pm-2:40pm  ”Breadcrumb Trail”

An excerpt from a new feature length documentary about the band Slint and the Louisville music culture they emerged from.  The film contains interviews and previously unseen footage of the band from their teenage years through to their reunion performances at All Tomorrows Parties, including the writing and arranging of material for their album “Spiderland.”  The film is planned for a release in late 2012.
